| The Botanical Register square plate Lonicera - Sydenham Edwards was born in Usk in 1768, and brought up in Abergavenny. In 1779 he went to London to be trained in botanical illustration by William Curtis. He became one of the experts of the time in his field, producing illustrations for numerous publications including The Botanical Magazine and his own periodical, The Botanical Register. He died in 1819. There are sets of these important periodicals in the Library's collection. |
