Autumn 2008 Makeup Buying Guide
Every season, the popular makeup palette  changes a bit. This season, we will see a shift away from certain makeup staples that have been in our makeup bags for years, and new exciting shades are already being released on designer makeup lines. If you're looking to get prepared for autumn's new makeup trend, we have everything you need here!
The Eyes
The most dramatic change in makeup this season is the absence of black eyeliner. Get ready for muted, metallic colours and a sort of urban fairytale feel. Grey is huge this season, so stock up on grey eyeliner. Go for brown if you are really missing that black eyeliner. The smoky eye look with a twist is big, so pair grey eyeliner with gold eyeshadow. Mauve and plum shades of eye makeup have been added to most makeup lines this season, so try some purple eyeshadow with that grey eyeliner as well. Typical autumn tones are back, so earthy shades of gold and green are in. Mascara is still a staple, so keep your favourite mascara in your bag. Skip mascara on the bottom eyelashes though! Remember, keep the eyes translucent!
The Lips
Forget last season's classic red lips. This autumn is all about bare lips. Let lips glisten with lip gloss. Want colour? A golden tinted lip gloss will be all you'll need this season. No lip liner, no lip plumpers. If you want a lipstick, go for nude shades. The more non-existent the rest of the makeup is, the more those grey-lined eyes pop, and that's what this autumn is all about.
The Face
Natural looking foundation and concealer is always in. It's all about looking natural this autumn, so go easy on the blush. In fact, the runways were filled with models wearing little to no blush for this autumn! If you need a little colour, go for a cream blush that is in a shade that matches the natural undertones in your skin. The focus this season is on translucent grey eyes, which only really work if the rest of the makeup is simple, so try putting away most of your bronzers and blushes for another season.
