Bath and Body Gifts Buying Guide

Bath and body gifts are a great idea for virtually anyone. Whether the recipient is 8 years old or 80, high maintenance or no maintenance, male or female - everyone can enjoy a little pampering. Bath  and body  gifts come in all shapes and sizes, so there really is something out there for everyone. As with any gift, the key is to remember whom you are shopping for. Based on their age, lifestyle, and personal preferences, you can customize the perfect gift.

Consider

  • Are you shopping for a male or female?  We all use cleansers but men 's and women 's skin are very different and thus need different ingredients. It's really important to make sure the products you buy are specifically meant for the person you give them to - especially if it goes on the face.
  • What age is the recipient? It's easy to identify children's products - they are usually bright sweet and nontoxic However, it is a little more difficult to sift through adult products. A 20 year old, a 50 year old, and an 80 year old have different skin and would generally use different products on their faces. If you're buying a cleanser  or moisturizer you should probably know ahead of time what the person wants.
  • If you're aiming for the face, beware: there are three different skin types, and they each require different products. Oily dry and combination skin  are common terms for face products. If you don't know what skin type the person is, try buying a product that can be used by anyone.
  • Finally, think about the recipient's lifestyle. If the person spends a lot of time on their feet, like a waiter or a dancer, a footbath  may be just the right thing. If you're shopping for a man with little leisure time, maybe a fancy shaving cream  or aromatherapy  body wash  will help him feel rejuvenated.

Tips and Guidelines

  • Facial products  can be tricky, and people are often very particular about them. Instead of buying a daily moisturizer try a mud mask  or deep treatment These products mimic spa treatments, so they will relax and comfort the recipient.
  • Need to know the skin type? Teenagers tend to have normal to oily skin, adults generally have normal to dry skin. Combination skin is common among young adults, as it is in the process of maturing. However, this is not true for everyone! Climate, ethnicity, genetics, and personal habits all factor into a person's skin. You are best of simply asking the person what they use.
  • If you are buying for a child, smell the product before you buy it. Cotton candy  and bubblegum  are popular scents for kid's soap  and lotion but they can leave you with a real headache. Look for something floral  or fruity  - you'll thank yourself later.
