Clothing for Tall Women Buying Guide

We always want what we don't have... blondes  want to be brunette the short  want to be tall and the tall want their clothing to fit properly! Well you've come to the right place, because I've done lots of shopping, lots of reading and LOTS of wearing clothes Now that I've finally got a strategy for being tall and looking great, I want to share with everyone else still searching. If you have any fashion tips you'd like to share, feel free to add them!

A few tips...

  • Don't ever buy regular pants When your pants are too short, it makes you look enormous - like clothes don't come in your size you're so tall!
  • Find a pair of pants that fit perfectly, and get their measurements. "Tall has different meaning at different stores - sometimes it means "two inches longer" and sometimes it means "1/2 inch longer."
  • Once you know your measurements, don't settle! You'll run into countless salesgirls that don't know what an inseam is, let alone what it is in a particular pair of pants. If they tell you to "try them on and see," ask for another salesperson. You should only buy a pair that fits you perfectly, and that's what the inseam will tell you.
  • Embrace the skinny jean  fad. Not only will they flaunt your long and gorgeous stems, but they generally come longer, so they'll fit!
  • Don't always wear flats Believe me, I know it's awkward being taller than your date, but a pair of heels  makes you look tall, sexy, and confident, not tall and wishing you weren't.
  • When it comes to heels, you pretty much always want to avoid the 4 1/2 inch stilletto, but try a 1 inch pair. These are great, because they don't look like kitten heels  (AKA fake heels) but you don't end up tall enough to see everyone's dandruff.
  • Wear belts Belt a shirt  or dress  to define (or create) a waist. This makes a huge difference - without a belt  I look like a giraffe, neverending tall. The belt divides my long torso, making me look just slightly taller than average.
  • Be careful with skirts  and shorts If they're too long, you will look matronly. If they are too short, you will look trashy. If you've got slim legs and a relatively slim figure, you can get away with a shorter pair of shorts or skirt. Luckily, if you're tall a medium length skirt or shorts will show off your legs plenty - without looking inappropriate.

The most important tip I can give you as a tall woman, is to own it. Tall women don't always fit in and don't always feel comfortable, but that's okay. Enjoy standing out! In a crowded room, you're one of the first people anyone notices. You're not twelve anymore, you don't want to blend in. Be proud of your stature! Height is the number one requirement for models and actresses, because a tall woman is more sexy and more distinguished. Remember that!

A gorgeous outfit is only half the battle, you've got to rock it too. So put you chin up, your shoulders back, and strut those long and gorgeous gams. After all, nothing looks better on a woman than confidence!

Accessories

Large Size Footwear

Try brands like EasySpirit or Dr. Scholls - these tend to come in larger sizes and can be quite stylish if you're discriminating. If you have large feet, comfortable shoes are a must; bigger feet are more likely to need surgical intervention over time, so take care of those puppies!

Tall-Size Hosiery

One of those things most people would never think about, and are therefore near impossible to find. Try thigh high hosiery when possible; it's easier to find, easier to deal with in the ladies room, and usually undetectable as an alternative.

Women's Tall Sleepwear

Admittedly not our biggest problem as tall women, but an inconvenience nonetheless. Shorts and sweats are a lot easier than tall nightgowns, but sometimes you just want to feel feminine and sexy. If you're having a real hard time, try something that ties or laces in a larger size.
