Counter Top Spice Racks - Great for those who use lots of spices when cooking.
- Some can even be wall mounted.
- Usually the least expensive type of spice rack.
- These are made from either wood,
metal, or sometimes plastic.
- Not recommended if you have a shortage of counter space, unless you find one that can be mounted on the wall.
|
Cabinet Door Mounted Racks - This type is a big time space saver, as it mounts directly on to most cabinet doors.
- Make sure the spice labels don't get blocked by the rack.
- If you have children who tend to close doors too hard, avoid this type or risk spending hours cleaning up spices and glass!
|
Drawer Spice Racks - One of the biggest advantages of this type is that it is rare for any spices to break from this method of storage.
- Spices stay fresh and last longer when not exposed to light.
- Though they usually fit into almost any drawer without a problem, they can also be trimmed down with a band saw.
|
Rotating or 'Carousel' Racks - Rotating spice racks make it super easy to find the spices you want.
- Usually more stylish than other types.
- Some rotating spice racks act as dispensers
as well.
- Dispenser carousels measure out 1/4 tsp and 1/2 tsp increments of spices.
- Dispensers have limited capacity and you have to label compartments yourself.
|
Magnetic Spice Rack - Magnetic spice racks stick right on to your refrigerator!
- Not recommended if you are likely to have tons of traffic near your fridge or have people who really like to slam refrigerator doors.
- You can buy a metal plate and mount it anywhere on the wall if you find that putting spices on the fridge results in too much of a mess.
- Usually only hold a limited amount of spices, so it is probably not best for people with over 20 spices.
